A fun one for yous today (or I think it’s fun, at least). If you look closely at the central white sign on the front of this L. Mulligan Grocer print, you’ll spot a teeny tiny anomaly. Yes, I’ve written Stonewater instead of Stoneybatter.
This was, in my infinite wisdom and incessant need to turn everything into a joke, intentional.
The background: I lived in Stoneybatter for three years after we moved home from LA, and that’s actually where I started LK ICYMI. For reasons unknown, my bank consistently addressed all my post to “Stonewater.” Fair play to An Post for getting any of the letters to my actual address.
Since there are loads of lully pubs in the locality, the Stonewater thing seemed fun to introduce. So, I’ve fully leaned into it and decided to immortalise the bank’s favourite fictional district right on the facade of one of me fave pubs.
